IAH is run by a Council of 13 members elected every four years. IAH is a charitable, incorporated organisation and so the members of its Council are its Directors and trustees of the Charity. Twelve posts were contested in the 2008 elections. The retiring president, Stephen Foster, holds the thirteenth post of Past President by reason of his previous office.
The ballot opened on 1 September 2008 and closed on 28 October 2008. The results were announced at the General Assembly held in Toyama City, Japan the following day. The elected candidates are shown in yellow highlight.
The total number of votes cast was 1238 out of 3676 valid election codes that were distributed. This is a response of 34%. The turnout significantly exceeds the 24% turnout achieved in the 2004 election. Of the 1238 votes 97% were cast using the on-line voting system.
