Leonard F. Konikow received a B.A. in geology from Hofstra University (1966), and a M.S. (1969) and Ph.D. (1973) in geology from The Pennsylvania State University. He has worked as a research hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey since 1972. His work and research interests include the development and application of solute-transport models to ground-water contamination problems and the assessment of long-term depletion of ground-water resources.
He has been active in Professional societies, having served as Chairman of the American Geophysical Union’s (AGU) Groundwater Committee, AGU Hydrology Program Chairman, Chair of the Hydrogeology Division of the Geological Society of America (GSA), Board of Directors of the Association of Ground Water Scientists and Engineers (AGWSE/NGWA), and Chairman of the U.S. National Chapter of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH). He is a Fellow of AGU and GSA, and has received the O.E. Meinzer Award from the Hydrogeology Division of GSA, the President’s Award from IAH, the M. King Hubbert Award from NGWA, and the C.V. Theis Award from the American Institute of Hydrology |
