News from Perth, including announcement of keynote speakers
As many will be aware, the IAH 2013 Programme Committee extended the abstract deadline to 29 March. They now advise us us that more than 650 abstracts were received and they are now being reviewed. Having extended the submission deadline, notification of acceptance has been extended to 13 May; early bird registration will close on 17 June. Responding to comments and concerns tough discussions have been held within the organising committee and with IAH centrally to try to keep down the congress costs for participants.
We are pleased to confirm the following plenary speakers. Dave Rudolph (2013 Darcy lecturer; University of Waterloo), Chunmiao Zheng (Beijing University and University of Alabama), Craig Simmons (Director, National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training & Flinders University), Peter Cook (Deputy Director, National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training & Flinders University) Sue Murphy (CEO Western Australian Water Corporation) Geoff Beale (Schlumberger Water Services, UK), Peter Dillon (Water for a Healthy Country Flagship Program, CSIRO Land and Water) Wolfgang Kinzelbach (ETH Zurich), Stephen Foster (GWP Senior Adviser, University of London). In addition, the Congress coincides with the Australian National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training’s first term conclusion, so more than 100 PhD students and 50 post doctoral researchers will be presenting their findings in Perth.
Further information about the congress is available on the congress website www.iahcongress2013.org. On behalf of your hosts, IAH Australia, we look forward to seeing you in Perth from 15 to 20 September 2013. |
